The Homosassa Special Water District is a special district of the state of Florida. In order to provide the area with a safe central water system, the people of the area decided to form a special taxing district in 1959. The district is governed by a five member Board of Commissioners that is elected by the registered voters that reside within the district's boundaries.
Practice Water Conservation TODAY AND EVERYDAY.
Other than the air we breathe, water is the most vital factor in our lives. Nearly 97% of the world's water contains salt or is otherwise undrinkable. 2% is locked in ice caps and glaciers. 1% remains for all the needs of the people of the world. Water is simply too important to waste.
The Homosassa Special Water District will be upgrading the water system in your area in the upcoming weeks to better serve your property. We will be replacing the existing two-inch galvanized water lines with new six and four-inch water mains. These improvements will increase volume, pressure and increase fire protection to the area.
The streets receiving these upgrades are; S. Mooreland Pt., S. James Ter., S. Seabury Ter., W. Jack Ln., W. Pick ln., and S. Parkland Ter.
This is a major construction project that will involve open trenching and directional boring to install the new lines. We will be striving to keep interruptions to service to a minimum. During construction there will be equipment, sand, gravel, water and long sections of piping in the right-of-ways. The Homosassa Special Water District will be managing this project and has hired Pave-Rite, Inc. (a local company) for the construction of this project. Once construction is complete disturbed areas will be restored.
We understand that major construction projects such as this can cause disruptions with normal activities in the area and ask for your understanding so that we can complete this project as efficiently as possible. If there is a problem caused by our construction, please contact us as soon as possible so we can address your concerns. This is a water line replacement project and as such you will not be assessed or billed for the improvements.
Should you have any questions about this letter or the construction of this project, please feel free to contact me at the Homosassa Special Water District office by calling (352) 628-3740 or email us at [email protected]
